Find the perfect family home in an historic neighborhood, when you buy your new home in Flamingo Park. The single-family homes of Flamingo Park were built starting primarily in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places, with a mix of 458 Mediterranean, Spanish and modern-style homes. It was put on the National Register in 2000, but was listed as a West Palm Beach Historic District in 1993. Featuring tree lined streets and historic street signs, the neighborhood has much to be proud of. The neighborhood of Flamingo Park is within the boundaries of Park Place, Belvedere Road, Parker Avenue and Florida Avenue, near downtown West Palm Beach. It is just west of South Dixie Highway, in about a one-and-a-half square mile area.
Although varied in style, many of the homes include wood flooring, walk-in closets, fireplaces and French doors. Others include open balconies, with garden views, Florida rooms, large private swimming pools and covered patios. Expect to find two-bedroom, one-bath homes priced in the mid $200,000s for around 1,000 square feet. Larger homes go upwards of 2,000 square feet, with some priced in the mid $400,000 range. Property values are going up, as more of the homes are being renovated and remodeled.
Each December the neighborhood of Flamingo Park hosts a Holiday Historic Home Tour. It is the largest fundraiser for the community, featuring a number of homes to tour, along with area restaurants and caterers. The community also hosts a Spring Garden Tour of private residential gardens. As well, the community hosts monthly happy hours and other events for homeowners and holds community cleanups to keep the area in tip-top shape. There are dozens of public parks in the Palm Beach County area, and one of them is right at Flamingo Park. Howard Park is the place for residents and pets to enjoy the lush landscaping. For shopping, CityPlace is not far from the community. The downtown West Palm Beach shopping mall features more than 100 stores, pus restaurants. Clematis Street is also a must see location, with its many trendy boutique stores and dining locations. For fine dining and upscale shopping, visit Worth Avenue. There are several family-friendly venues in downtown West Palm Beach. The Norton Museum of Art is the largest museum of its kind in the entire state of Florida. For outdoor music and concerts, take your family to the Meyer Amphitheater. For a more formal night out, choose the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The Kravis Center hosts the opera, ballet, plus live musicals and music. As for other outdoors activities, the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal are both close by. Many people own boats in this area, with boating, fishing and diving being large draws. There are also more than 100 different golf courses around Palm Beach County. Tourism, education and the medical field influence the job market in West Palm Beach. When it comes to healthcare, Flamingo Park is close to several hospitals. Good Samaritan Medical Center is right downtown, and Butler Medical Center is not far away, either. The community of Flamingo Park feeds into the School District of Palm Beach County. The public school district is highly rated. Students within the neighborhood attend Palm Beach Public School, Conniston Middle School and Forest Hill Community High School. There are also a number of private schools, including Oxbridge Academy, The King’s Academy, and Cardinal Newman High School. As for secondary education options, Flamingo Park is just south of Palm Beach Atlantic University in downtown West Palm Beach. Other nearby colleges include Northwood University and Keiser University.
